Alexander John Kostrzewsky, Jr.

Alexander John Kostrzewsky, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on April 8th, 2023, at his home in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. He was born in Monterey, California, on May 13, 1953, to Captain Alexander J. Kostrzewsky and Mary Patience Kostrzewsky. 
Alex’s first and greatest love was his best friend and love of his life, his wonderful wife Cindy. He also leaves behind four siblings: Gregory (Carol), Jeffrey (Dianne), Patience, and Pamela, and a brother-in-law, Gregory Staley (Marianne) as well as seven nieces and nephews: Anna, William and Weston Kostrzewsky, Kyle, Tess and Chloe Alexander, and Mark Staley.  Alex was a graduate of McLean High School, McLean, Virginia and Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia. He was an avid history buff with a vast knowledge of Civil War and World War II history. He served as an intern at Antietam National Battlefield and worked for a time for the U.S. National Park Service. He was also employed at Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, MD, and, closer to retirement, worked for Radio Shack.  Alex enjoyed historic battle reenactments, playing chess, and spending time with his family and many friends and was especially fond of his cat Tuxedo. 
Alex was a kind, loving and joyful man who knew the value of a smile, laughter, and spirited conversation.  He was loved dearly and will be deeply missed by the many people whose lives he touched. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1525 Oak Hill Ave., Hagerstown with Monsignor J. Bruce Jarboe as celebrant. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rsthvn.com
