Allen Melvin Weiser

Greencastle, Pa. Allen Melvin Weiser, 72, passed away, at his home on Thursday, October 30, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 25, 1942 in Everett, Pa. Allen was the son of the late Samuel Allen Weiser and Nellie (Dishong) Weiser Younker and husband, Woodrow. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his brothers, Samuel Weiser and Floyd Weiser.

Allen graduated from South Hagerstown High School in 1960. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1963-67 as an E-5 Sergeant. During his tenure in the Marine Corps, his unit was involved in the Cuban missile crisis and he also served in the Viet Nam War.

Allen was retired from Eastland Motors in Chambersburg, Pa. where he is remembered by his friends for his contagious laughter and joy of life.

Allen is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Donna Kay (Hoffman) Weiser, whom he married on February 6, 1965. He is also survived by his daughter, Melissa Kay Weiser Elliott and husband Gregory and daughter, Krista Weiser Havens, all of Greencastle; sisters, Ruth Ellen Crowe and husband Terry of Lexington Park, Md. and Luanne Childress of Orlando, Fla.; sister-in-law, Jennifer Zeger and husband James of Hagerstown; his beloved grandchildren, Bethany Elliott, Elissa Elliott, Lauren Elliott, Garrett Elliott, Danielle Elliott and Ryan Havens; best friend, Charles Boward and wife Leslie ; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Allen's greatest joy was spending time with his wife, Donna, his daughters, Melissa and Krista and their families. He treasured the precious time he shared with each one of his grandchildren as much as they loved being with him. His love for his family knew no bounds. Allen loved his life and shared that love with everyone he met. He never knew a stranger and was a trusted and loyal friend to those who were blessed to have him in their lives.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor David Rawley officiating.

Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
