Ardella Lucille "Lu" Brintzenhofe, 92, of Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Homewood Health Care in Williamsport, MD. She was born on November 23, 1926 in Niles, Ohio. She was the daughter of Darvin L. and Sadie Bancroft Shiley. Lu was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd R. Waters, Jr., whom she married in March of 1946. And her second husband, Vern L. Brintzenhofe, whom she married August 15, 1964. She was also preceded by two brothers, Carl and Darvin (Bud), and a sister Lola Lane.Lu graduated from Mineral Ridge High School in Mineral Ridge, Ohio in 1944. After her marriage to Floyd, they lived in Warren, Ohio. She is also a member of the Beaver Creek Christian Church.After her marriage to Vern, the family moved to Hagerstown where they lived before moving to Triangle, VA in 1973. In 2004, Lu and Vern moved back to Hagerstown. Lu enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, visiting FL along with fishing trips to Canada. While living in VA, she worked for Prince William County as a school bus driver. Later, working with Prince William Co. Commission on Aging as a tour bus driver, taking trips from Nova Scotia to Florida. She was also active with the Showstoppers. A group that sang in nursing homes and for special occasions. She is survvied by her children, Reed Waters (Diana) of Hedgesville, WV; a daughter Jayne Waters Moore (Wade) of Hagerstown; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Moore of LaPlata, Cara Moore Broadus of Hagerstown and Stacey Waters Chayka of Leonardtown; 2 step children, Dr. Karen Kelly (Julie) of NC and Keith Brintzenhofe (Cindy) of Fredericksburg, VA; 3 step-grandchildren, Aaron, Dana and Nick Brintzenhofe, all of VA; 7 great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Marcia Bortz of Hagerstown. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The funeral service will be held beginning at 2:00 P.M. with Elder and lifelong friend, Denny Warrenfeltz officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Homewood Health Care, Briarwood Unit and Hospice of Washington County for the care and compassion shown to our mother over the last few months, In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Beaver Creek Christian Church, 9711 Beaver Creek Church Road, Hagerstown, MD 21740 in memory of Lu.
