Barbara Goetschius Cashion, 85, who taught at Georgetown University, Wilson College, Gettysburg College and Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania died June 18, 2019.
Dr. Cashion received her masters degree in sociology from American University in 1971 and her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in 1974. She was the co-author with J. Ross Eshleman of an introductory sociology textbook first published by Little, Brown and Co., and authored numerous articles for scholarly journals. She retired to Hagerstown, Maryland where she became a proficient oboe player. She moved to Silver Spring, Maryland in 2016.
Barbara was raised in Ramsey, New Jersey. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Trant of Edinburg, TX and Elizabeth Williams of Chevy Chase, MD; a sister, Peggy O'Hagen of Hackensack, NJ; and two nieces and one nephew of New Jersey. She adored her four grandchildren: James Johnston of Parkville, MD; Jennifer Johnston of Austin, TX; Emily Williams of Brooklyn, NY; and Kelly Williams of Chevy Chase, MD.
Graveside services will be private in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Greg Shook officiating and conducted at the convenience of the family.
