Ben C. Thompson, 89, of Hagerstown, died on May 7th, 2016 at his home. He was born on December 21, 1926 in DeLand, Florida to Frank and Marie (Schaefer) Thompson. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He graduated from Ohio University in 1949 and went to work for Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys) and retired in 1985. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He leaves his wife of 69 years, Bette R.; daughters Dr. Ann Thompson of Pittsburgh; Laurie (and husband Dr. Charlie) Wang of Wilmington; Lynn Thompson of Boston; Beth (and husband Chuck) Huber of Westminster; and Olivia (and husband Barry) Jones; as well as grandchildren Seth Frader-Thompson; Ian, Evan, and Lindsay Wang; Ari, Anna, Alex, and Adam Blumberg; Benjamin and Kelsey Huber; and Douglas and Kirkland Jones; and great grandson, Sam Frader-Thompson. He was a friend of Bill W. Friends will gather at the Rest Haven Funeral Chapel on Pennsylvania Ave from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. A brief memorial service will begin at 7 pm.
