Betty Jeanene Crowe of Hagerstown, passed away on May 22, 2014 at her home with her family by her side. She fought a courageous, five-year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Born on May 26, 1933 in Hagerstown, to the late Scott A. Neibert and Leda Cornelia Coffinberger Neibert Deardorff.
She was a 1951 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
Betty was a secretary all of her working life. She worked for several local attorneys from 1950 - 1954 and was a senior secretary in the the engineering department of Mack Trucks, Inc. from 1965 until her retirement in 1985.
Betty was of the Lutheran faith and had been a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church for over 50
years.
Betty had a passion for hand quilting and was an avid reader. She and her husband, John, had the
luxury traveling extensively in the United States, the Caribbean, Europe and Japan.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Crowe; a daughter, Catherine C. Swartz and her husband Thomas of Sharpsburg; a son, Wayne S. Crider, Jr. and his wife Deana of Falling Waters, WV.; a step-son, John M. Crowe and his wife Donna; two step-grandchildren, David and James Crowe of North Carolina; a sister, Faye R. Fowler of Hagerstown and a brother, Richard D. Neibert and his wife, Hazel of Hagerstown.
Betty has donated her body to the Maryland Anatomy Board for research. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, with the Rev. David Rodriquez officiating.
