Carlos Jay Burger, 87, of Hagerstown, passed away, Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Coffman Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Son of the late, Franklin and Elizabeth (Zinkand) Burger.
Carlos was an all American Skilled Craftsman who worked thru Callas Contractors, where he retired. Carlos had high security clearance; he worked in the White House, Blair House and Camp David during the Reagan, Clinton and both Bush administrations.
Carlos enjoyed watching the Baltimore Orioles; and liked fishing and having lunch with the 1950's YMCA gang. Carlos in his younger years played football for the West End Terrors and the Terrors won the championship against the East End.
Carlos was a committed firefighter with Antietam and Engine 3 and Independent Companies.
Carlos was Baptized and Confirmed and a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown.
Carlos leaves behind his wife, June Kauffman Burger of 67 years; daughters, Debra Burger Valentine and husband, Stan of Stuart, Fla. and Kindra Burger Wrenn and husband, Matt of Hagerstown; a son, Brian Burger of Atlantic City, NJ; four grandchildren, Kimberly Valentine Reisinger, Lance Valentine, Briana Burger and Cirrea Burger; six great grandchildren, Cody Valentine, Gunnar Valentine, Tigerlilly Reisinger, Boden Reisinger and Huddsen Reisinger; a sister, Nancy Kline and his fur buddy, Sandy.
In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence, Roland, Donovan and Wayne Burger.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Todd Young officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M.
