Carolyn Deborah Nicarry

Carolyn Deborah "Debbie" Nicarry, 70, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born July 30, 1944 in Hagerstown, but raised in State Line, she was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Ruth (Hays) Spitzer.

Debbie was a 1962 graduate of Greencastle Antrim High School.

She was a former member of State Line United Methodist Church and a recording secretary for Frontier County Gun Club. Music was a big part of her life. She was a member of her high school glee club and her church's choir. She took music and voice lessons growing up.

Debbie started her more than 40 year career at the Marion and Chambersburg Post Offices before becoming Post Master in Lemaster's and retiring at the State Line office after more than 20 years of service. She considered many of her customers and friends as part of her extended family.

She is survived by her very loving daughter, Denise Nicarry of Chambersburg; two brothers, Guy Spitzer and wife Sue of Maugansville, Charlie Spitzer of Boonsboro; a sister, Kate Detrow and husband Gene of Marlow, WV.; a long time companion, Joseph Fogal of Chambersburg and his family; several nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; cousins; and many, many, friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of ones choice in her name.
