Charles Howard Sheeley, 96, went to be with his Savior on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Reeders Memorial Home, in Boonsboro.
Born August 9, 1921, in St. James, Maryland, he was the son of the late William Henry and Mary "Mamie" Elizabeth (Beachley) Sheeley.
Charles was a 1939 graduate of Wiliamsport High School. In June 1939, he worked for Rowland's Garage, in St. James. In 1941 he started working at Fairchild Aircraft until his retirement in 1986, with 45 years of service.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in early years and was an avid duckpin bowler for 70 years.
He was a former member of St. James Brethren Church and then transferred to Hagerstown First Brethren, where he served as Trustee and Sunday School Secretary for 35 years. He was a recent a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Mary (Reeder) Sheeley; two sons, Lester A. Sheeley and Wayne D. Sheeley and his wife Pamela of Martinsburg, WV.; a great-niece, Jeannette Herrell and husband Mark, as well as their two children, of Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Fred Sheeley; three stepbrothers; and a stepsister.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Inc., 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Curtis Erghott officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
