Charles Richard "Dick" Burger, 88, of Hagerstown, went to be with the Lord on, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at his home.
Born November 6, 1925 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late William A. and Belle M. (Burger) Burger. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by four brothers, William E., Paul M., Albert B. and John H. Burger and eight sisters, Violet Spielman, Lucille Brandenburg, Mabel Hoopengardner, Delphine Head, Hazel Bowers, Martha Reeder, Alice Rowe and Mary Myers.
Mr. Burger was a Life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hagerstown
He retired in 1985 with 40 years of service as a carman with the Western Maryland Railroad.
He was a US Navy veteran of WW II. A member of the Clopper-Michael Post No. 10 American Legion, Boonsboro; F.O. Eagles Aries 694, Hagerstown; Western Enterprise Fire Company No. 4, Hagerstown and the Improved Order of Redmen, Conococheague Tribe 84, Williamsport.
He is survived by daughter, Lisa Koontz and husband, Andy of Downsville, Md. along with his son, Todd Lynch of Hagerstown and grandchildren, Katie Troxell and husband, Rhet, Matt and Mark Koontz, Delaney and Bryce Lynch also many nieces and nephews with a fond mention of Bonnie Bowers.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. James Nirapple officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M.
