Charles William Plummer

Charles William "Pete" Plummer, 83, of Williamsport, passed away at home on April 9, 2014, with his family by his side.
Born July 1, 1930 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late, Samuel B. and Pearl H. (Price) Plummer. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his son, Brian A. Plummer in 2012 and three brothers, Frederick B. Plummer, Donald B. Plummer and Samuel B. Plummer.
Mr. Plummer was a 1948 graduate of Hagerstown High School and a graduate of the Columbia Business College, Hagerstown.
He retired in 1994 with 24 years of service as the director of finance for the Washington County Board of Education and was previously employed as manager of accounts and treasurer for Victor Sales and Credit Corporation, Hagerstown.
He loved his country and was a US Air Force veteran from 1950 - 1954 and had served in the Korean Campaign as a communications specialist.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hagerstown and a member of the Williamsport American Legion Post 202.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Jean (Eyler) Plummer; one daughter, Tracey L. Poffenberger and husband, Elmer W. of Hagerstown; three grandchildren that were the apple of his eye, Emily R., Hailey N. and Seth W. Poffenberger; two sisters, Jane P. Hoover of York, Pa. and Peggy L. Freeze of Rockville, Md.
Pete was a hard worker and took pride in being a good husband and provider for his family. He was a loving father and adored his children, Brian and Tracey. He always took them swimming, camping and a trip to the ocean every summer.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with the Rev. Curtis Ehrgott officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 7-9 P.M.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Pete's name to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
