Christine Hatcher

Christine Morrison Hatcher, 82, of Hagerstown passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, from respiratory failure at her residence at Goodwill Retirement Community in Grantsville, Md.
Born Oct. 10, 1930, in Winston-Salem, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Ray Hamilton and Kathleen (Kennedy) Morrison.

She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown, where she worked in their Turnover Shop. She also was a member of the Downtown Hagerstown Merchants Association and Fountain Head Country Club.

She owned and operated The Book Store on West Washington Street from 1973 to 1987.

She was an excellent flower gardener and loved taking care of her pets.

She loved her family and was devoted to their welfare.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine "Missy" Mazza and husband, Samuel, of Morgantown, W.Va.; a son, Winfield Miller and wife, Sandy, of Easton, Md.; a brother, Hamilton Morrison of Hobe Sound, Fla.; four grandchildren, Samuel Mazza Jr., Lucian Mazza, Hanna Marie Smith and Ryan Miller; and nieces and nephews, Kathleen, Drake, Martha Rosemond Anne and Mary.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert H. Miller; her second husband of 34 years, George Albert Hatcher; and a sister, Agnes Witte and husband, Roy.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 28, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Ann Boyd officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Family and friends will gather to honor her memory Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Goodwill Retirement Community, 891 Dorsey Hotel Road, Grantsville, MD 21536.
