Clarence Woodrow Wilson Nichols, 93, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.
Born June 14, 1917 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Leroy and Bessie Mae (Baker) Nichols.
Mr. Nichols retired as a machinist for Grove Manufacturing.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, the BPO Elks Lodge 378, AMVETS, and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and his caretaker and great-nephew, Edward L. Parker Jr. of Hagerstown.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Nichols, and four sisters, Catherine Harp, Evelyn Spessard, Genevieve Huntsberry and Gloria Bradberry.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating.
