Colleen Sharon (Ford) Slick, 78, of Hagerstown, MD peacefully passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, surrounded by family after a 2-year battle with Multiple System Atrophy.
Colleen was born on April 22, 1944, to Dolan and Sarah Ford of Hagerstown. She graduated from South Hagerstown High in 1962. She married Ed Slick in 1963 and they were inseparable for the next 59 years.
When Colleen had her son, Chuck and later daughter Maria, she dedicated her life to being a caring and wonderful mother supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives.
Colleen went on to become a Podiatry Assistant and office Manager for Dr. Robert Josephs DPM in Hagerstown, Frederick and Martinsburg WV, eventually retiring from that position.
When Colleen wasn’t filling her home with warmth, she could be found at with friends at yard sales and the Salvation Army store while attending to her business “WoodNBaskets” at Memory Lane in Hagerstown.
Colleen and Ed’s passion was traveling the world having visited multiple countries, gone on over 40 cruises and of course drove all over the USA which they loved so much. When pressed to pick a favorite destination Colleen would typically respond with, “Alaska”.
Colleen was a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene pastored by Steve Johnson, enjoying the many friendships made there.
Colleen is survived by her husband, Ed; daughter, Maria Averill of Gerrardstown, WV; Sister, Shirley Barnhart of Greencastle, PA; brother Greg Ford of Hagerstown; grandchildren David Cartwright (Alabama), Matthew Cartwright (New York), Daniel Slick (Washington DC) Anthony Slick (Virginia) and Ray Jackson (VA); Daughter-in-law Dolly (Slick) Jackson (VA); brother-in-law and sister-in-law Terry and Kay Slick; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Colleen was predeceased by her parents Dolan and Sarah Ford, sister Nancy McCoy, brother Dolan Ford, all of Hagerstown, and her beloved son, Chuck Slick of Virginia Beach, VA.

Services will be held Saturday, November 19 at the Rest Haven Funeral Home 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, at 1PM. Friends will be received 1 hour prior to services. A graveside service will be immediately following the memorial.
A light meal will be served after the graveside service at the Hagerstown Church of the Nazarene 141 N. Edgewood Dr, Hagerstown which all are welcome to attend.
