Connie Elizabeth Hardy

Connie Elizabeth (Mertz) Hardy, 83, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Brookdale Assisted Living.

Born on September 4, 1939 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Crist Preston Mertz, Jr. and Lucile J. (Smith) Mertz. Connie was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra Pearson and Sherry (Paul) Potts; grandchildren, Donielle Hepler; Amanda (Christopher) Cissner, Jessica Hepler, James R. Pearson Jr., Heather (Tim) Shoop, Jamie (Kevin) Barnhart, Joy (Rick) Eichelberger Caudo and Timmy (Lauren) Draper; great-grandchildren, Svein, D’Mitri, Natalia, Aria, Hailey, Gabriel, Nathaniel, Liberty, Sophia, Logan, Kaylenna (Shannon), Timothy (Haley), Kenneth (Adriana), Tyler, Aaliyah, Chelsea, Jordan (JJ), Devarion, Amarianna (Rosie), John, Raven, Stephen, Williow and Richard II (Bubba). As well as seven great-great grandchildren, Lorelei, Kaiden, Rhydian, Remyington, Vayda, Victoriya and Novalie; sister, Rosalie Ridenour, and son-in-law Ronald Eichelberger.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters Teresa Eichelberger and Tina Draper, brother, Donald L. Mertz Sr., brother-in-law W. Lee Ridenour, sister-in-law, Wanda Mertz and husband Richard L. Hardy, and grandaughter Lexie Caldwell.

Family and friends will be received from 6-8pm on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.

The funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday, July 21, 2023 at the funeral home and friends will be received on hour prior. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Hospice of Washington County for the special care given to Connie during her illness.
