Conway S. McNain, 89

Conway S. McNairn, a Myersville, Md resident since 2018, and a former Hagerstown, Md. and Churchville, Va resident, died Friday afternoon, January 15, 2021, in Myersville at home, surrounded by his wife and family.

Born in 1931 in Security, Maryland, Conway (Mick) was the son of the late James and Violet McNairn. He graduated from Hagerstown High School with the class of 1950. After graduating, he enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean War. After leaving the armed forces and completing certification programs at Fort Belvoir, he was employed at Pangborn Corporation for over 40 years. He and his wife, Ruth E. McNairn, were married more than 65 years.

He was a member of the Morris Frock American Legion in Hagerstown, Md and the Maryland Korean War Veterans Association. He was an avid gardener and bird watcher. In later life, he also enjoyed reading newspapers and books on history and following politics; he was particularly enthusiastic with the election of the first female VP, Kamala Harris. Earlier in life, he loved playing golf and bowling. He was gregarious and enjoyed visiting and watching sports at several bars, including the Creekside and the former Woodpoint.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four daughters, Diane R. McNairn, Hagerstown, Md., Donna McNairn, Baltimore, Md., Debra (McNairn) Kennedy, Savannah, Ga., Denise McNairn, Myersville, Md., and two granddaughters, Jami (Mills) Pearce, and Jacquelyn Kennedy, of Abington, Pa and Savannah, Ga, respectively, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Bonnie Plant, Floyd Riffee, Antoinette Morningstar, Joyce Barnes, Frank Riffee, and Audrey Bussard.
The Rest Haven Cemetery & Funeral Home, Hagerstown, is assisting the family with arrangements. There will not be visiting at the funeral home. Family may attend a private funeral service held graveside.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Conway’s name to any national tree planting, such as the National Arbor Foundation, or animal shelter of choice.
