David Patterson Rhodes, 69, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Doey's Hospice House surrounded by his loved ones.
Born May 8, 1950, in Sharpsburg, Md. David was the son of the late Joseph Edgar Rhodes and Julia B. Patterson Rhodes. He was also preceded in death by his wife: Gina Griffith Rhodes; his sister Julia G. Rhodes Lohman; his brother Joseph Rhodes; and his sister Debbie M. Rhodes.
David is survived by his wife Linda Cornwell Rhodes; his daughter Michelle Peirson and husband Arthur; his sons; David Rhodes and girlfriend Chris Taylor; Nathan Rhodes and wife, Bridgitt; Step-Daughters Brooke Cornwell and Stephanie Grimes and his grandchildren; Christian Peirson, Aston Peirson, Nick Rhodes and Grant Shafer. Fur babies Ollie and Milo Rhodes.
He also leaves behind his brothers Harry Rhodes and wife Pam; Eddie Rhodes and wife Debbie, his sister Mary J. Rhodes-Kretzer, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
David was drafted in 1969 and served in the United States Army, stationed in Panama until 1972. He was previously employed by Northup Grumman. David finished his working career retiring after 20 years with Emjay Construction as a Mechanical Contractor in 2018.
David was a great man who had a heart of gold and who deeply loved his family and his animals and would do anything for you. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, playing golf with his sons and nephews, reading and watching Science Fiction, and spending time with his family.
In accordance with David's wishes, a private ceremony will be held for close family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made directly to Rest Haven Funeral Home, (David Rhodes Memorial Fund) 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742, to help with the cost of the funeral expenses.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Brooke Cornwell who David cared for deeply for and appreciated all the love, support and care she gave him in his final days. Also, a special thank you to all the wonderful and compassionate staff of Hospice and Doey's House. God bless you all for the love, respect, kindness and care you showed David and our family.
