Dave Wolfinger, age 69, passed peacefully from this world into the presence of his Savior at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, MN on the evening of Sat. 2/6/21 after a 3-week long battle with COVID. Dave was born on March 17, 1951 to David & Jetta Wolfinger Jr. in Hagerstown. Dave was a 1969 graduate of South Hagerstown High School, graduated with a B.A. in Math from Western Maryland College in 1973. He moved to the Midwest in 1977. He received his Master’s Degree in Theology from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary in 1988, & was ordained in 1993. Dave performed missionary work in California, pastored a church in Minnesota, three different churches in Iowa, and has since retired. Most recently, he was involved in youth ministry AWANA (his passion), taught Sunday School at Cresco Community Chapel in Cresco, Iowa. He had an excellent bass voice & loved to sing every chance he had, both in church & in the local community theatre. Dave traveled to Finland, Russia, & the Ukraine with his college. With a church group, he traveled to Israel, Egypt, and Italy.
Dave is survived by his step-mother Mary Harbaugh Wolfinger, two step-sisters Nancy (Wiebel) Shrader and Carol (Wiebel) Moleskie, along with step-nieces and step-nephews, as well as numerous cousins, an aunt, and an uncle He was preceded in death by his parents David & Jetta, and in infant sister Joy.
A memorial service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2PM. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
