Deborah Ann (Crowl) McKenna, 63, of Springfield, Virginia, passed away, Friday, June 10, 2016, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.
Born October 18, 1952 in Martinsburg, West Virginia she was the daughter of the late, John Lee and Naomi Knott (Daniels) Crowl. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by one sister, Cheryl Lynn (Crowl) Stone.
Deborah was a graduate of North Hagerstown High School class of 1970.
She attended St. Raymond of Penafort Catholic Church, Springfield.
Deborah enlisted in the United States Air Force and served with honor and distinction for over 20 years retiring as a Master Sergeant. She then went on after a two year break to return to work for the Department of Defense at the Pentagon for another 21 years. She retired December 31, 2013. Her last job was raising grandchildren.
Deborah is survived by her husband of 45 years, Michael J. McKenna, Master Sergeant U.S. Air Force (Ret); one daughter, Shelley Rene (McKenna) Baxter of Clifton, Va.; one son, Michael Robert McKenna of Burke, Va.; four brothers, John L. Crowl, Jr., U.S. Air Force, of Hagerstown, Col. Daniel F. Crowl, U.S. Marine Corps. (Ret), of King George, Va. and Chief Master Sergeant Ronald W. Crowl, U.S. Air Force (Ret) of Eagle River, Alaska and Michael E. Crowl of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one sister, Patricia "Susan" Cramer, of Walkersville, Md.; four grandchildren, Levi Alan, McKenna Naomi, Riley Paige and Brantley Michael.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 17, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Duane Jensen officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
Family and friends will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to services.
