Donald Richard Weicht, Sr., 80, of Williamsport, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at Williamsport Retirement Village.
Born September 17, 1939 in Flintstone, MD, he was the son of the late Dewey Nelson and Mae Ruth (Trail) Weicht.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Weicht; brothers, Thomas Weicht, Kenneth Weicht, Paul Weicht; and sisters, Sue Kisamore, Shirley Bender and Adella Wagner.
He was a 1958 graduate of Flintstone High School, in Flintstone, MD.
He worked as an equipment operator and dump truck driver for C. Wm. Hetzer and Henson & Sons.
He was a member of Petworth Masonic Lodge # 47 F&AM in Washington, DC.
Mr. Weicht is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Joanne Marie (Watkins) Weicht; two sons, Donald R. Weicht, Jr. and companion Susan Snyder, Jason S. Weicht and wife Kelly all of Williamsport; a brother, Nelson Weicht and wife Alice of Statesville, NC.; five grandchildren, Sarah Wagner and husband Donnie, Donald Weicht, III and wife Anne of Florida, Emily Weicht, Lenzie Weicht and companion Kyle Franks, Lauren Weicht and fianc Samuel Gerhart; a great-grandson, Nicholas Weicht; a great-granddaughter, Adeline Grace Wagner; special cousin and close lifelong friend, Frank Heavner; dear family friend, Dwayne Gossard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donald had a passion for farming, hunting and the outdoors. His family was the most important aspect of his life.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Burial will follow in Piney Plains United Cemetery in Little Orleans, MD.
The family will receive friends starting at 9:30 AM for fellowship and refreshments.
