Donald Wayne Vaughn

Donald Wayne Vaughn, 56, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at his home.

Born November 8, 1957 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late, Delores Joann (Socks) Myers. In addition to his mother he also was preceded in death by one brother, Merle R. Vaughn, Jr., one sister, Lisa Sisk and infant daughter, Shannon Vaughn.

Mr. Vaughn retired from Xerxes Corporation where he was a molder of underground storage tanks.

He was a US Army veteran and a member of the B.P.O. Elks #378, Hagerstown and the South Mountain Rod and Gun Club. His enjoyed motorcycle riding, gardening, travel, and was a fan of NASCAR and the Washington Redskins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Cathy Marie (Lashley) Vaughn; two children, Aaron Vaughn of Hagerstown and Rachael Sechrist of Chambersburg, Pa.; two grandchildren; brothers, Richard Obitts and wife Teresa of Hedgesville, Terry Obitts and wife Melissa of Hagerstown and Walter Vaughn and wife Tawana of Hagerstown; sisters, Linda Gossard of Hagerstown, Donna Vaughn of Hagerstown, Tina Ecton and husband Billy of Greencastle, Sherry Kefauver of Hagerstown, Julia Vaughn of Chambersburg; mother and father-in-law, Ann and George Lashley, of Hagerstown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed and Barb Taylor of Hagerstown, Nina Vaughn of Maugansville and Robert Sisk of Hagerstown; aunt and uncle, Don Socks and wife Sue of Smithsburg; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Buffy.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Joy Zepp officiating.

Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown, where military honors will be accorded by the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 P.M.
