Doris E. Friedrich, 95, resident of Homewood at Williamsport and formerly of Dogwood Drive, Hagerstown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, at Doey's House with family by her side.
Born July 10, 1924, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Mary (Needy) Hepperle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Helmuth (Fred) A Friedrich, in 2002.
She was a member of Church of the Holy Trinity, UCC, where she served as a Deacon and on various committees and councils. She was also a past volunteer at Homewood. She and Fred enjoyed many years of square dancing with the Westernaires Square Dance Club and were also very avid card players. She was a compassionate and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always put others needs before her own.
She is survived by three sons, Russell Friedrich and wife Marsha of Shreveport, LA, Craig Friedrich and wife Mary Carol of Houghton, MI and David Friedrich and wife Jennifer of Greencastle, PA, four grandchildren (Dee Cochran, Daniel Friedrich, Sarah Friedrich and Katie Friedrich), two great grandchildren (Alex Noble and Collin Cochran) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her close, lifelong friend, Eileen Wiggins of Hagerstown. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Marvian Daley, Jane Guessford, Phyllis Ringer and one brother, Earl Hepperle, Jr.
Services will be Tuesday, September 24, at 11 am at Rest Haven Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 to 9 pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home, located at 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown.
The Reverend Kyle Powderly will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Doey's House, 11370 Caring Pathway Lane, Hagerstown, MD 21742 or Church of the Holy Trinity, 17805 Oak Ridge Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
