Doris Joann (Zeigler) Beyard Royer, 78, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Julia Manor Health Care Center.
Born April 9, 1931, in Greencastle, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Thelma (Esherman) Zeigler.
She was a graduate of Greencastle High School, and a member of Benevola United Methodist Church in Boonsboro.
Doris retired from the City of Hagerstown Police Department as a clerk, and had also taught Sunday school for 20 years.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and wife of a Shriner.
She is survived by her loving husband, Donald O. Royer Jr.; her son, Samuel F. Beyard and wife Anita of Felton, Del.; a stepdaughter, Lynne Sheedy and husband Dan of Boonsboro; a stepson, Matthew Royer of Eldersburg, Md.; a sister, Betty Stottlemeyer of Williamsport; and six grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Zeigler; and a stepson, Steve Royer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. John Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
