Dorothy Eileen Everhart, 85 years old, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away Oct. 20, 2010, at Ravenwood Nursing Home.
Dorothy was born Dec. 23, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Fred Boward and Marion Foltz Boward of Hagerstown.
Dorothy worked with her husband for many years. Prior to her retirement, she worked with her husband at the State Farm Insurance office located on West Washington Street in Hagerstown. They previously owned and operated Everhart's Babyland in Hagerstown.
Dorothy is a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Hagerstown.Prior to her illness, she was secretary of her Sunday school class and was active as a deacon's wife.
Dorothy is survived by daughter, Linda Kaufman and husband, Mike, of Williamsport, Md., and daughter Shirley Durbin and husband, Wayne, of Maugansville. She is survived by three grandchildren, Michael "Scott" Wigfield and wife, Amanda, Jennifer Sebastian and husband, Nathan, of Hagerstown, and Jami Shaffer and husband, Brian, of Hagerstown.
Dorothy is also survived by great-grandchildren, Alison Wigfield (currently attending college in Salisbury, Md.), Jesse Shaffer and Logan Sebastian, both of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Charles Kaufman and wife, Cari; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Elizabeth of Lowell, Ark., Keven Kaufman, San Jose, Calif., Bonnie Brown and husband, Steve, of Williamsport, and Tom Kaufman and wife, Lindsey, of Hagerstown.
Dorothy is survived by one sister and one brother, Shirley Reed and Wayne "Buck" Boward of Hagerstown; and dear friend, Kay Ayers.
Dorothy was preceeded in death by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth "Ken" Everhart, in 2003. She was preceeded in death by her son, Kenneth "Bambi" Everhart Jr., in 1993.
Also preceding her in death were sisters, Ruth Alexander, Juanita Krumpe, Peggy Smith and Betty Martz; and brothers, John Boward, Rodney Boward and Jack Boward.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with pastor Dale Carver officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Friends will be received Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
