Dorothy L. Jenkins, 76, of Hagerstown, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born July 4, 1935, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late George and Helen Marie (Yeager) Shantz.
Dorothy played bingo at South Mountain Rod & Gun Club, she loved making crafts and giving them away, she enjoyed cooking and camping, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
She had worked for Swordâ??s Market, and was a 1953 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Leonard E. Jenkins; a son, Michael W. Huntsberry Sr. and wife, Tammy, of Chambersburg, Pa.; three daughters, Pamela S. Gearhart and husband, Robert, of Hagerstown, Kathy A. Lewis and husband, Dennis, of Smithsburg, and Amy M. Jenkins of Havelock, N.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Michael Huntsberry II, Amanda Huntsberry, Justin Gearhart, Travis Gearhart, Sara Lewis and Jennifer Lewis; and a great- granddaughter, Madison Dundus.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Wanda Fritz and Sara Jane Delauter; and brothers, Max, George, Harry and Robert Shantz.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with Pastor Stan Steele officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Friends and family will be received Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
