Dorothy Lorraine Spessard, 84, of Hagerstown, passed away, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at her home.
Born January 9, 1933 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late, John Marshall-Kreps Eichelberger and Nellie Howell-Lapole Eichelberger. In addition to her parents she also was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Gladhill, Thelma Wigfield and Shirley Eichelberger "infant"; five brothers, William M. Eichelberger, Paul M. Eichelberger, Kenneth L. Eichelberger, Kreps A. Eichelberger and Earl E. Eichelberger; one grandson, George R. Wolfe, Jr. and a great great grandson, Justice C.C. Myers.
Mrs. Spessard retired as a waitress for over 30 years at the Woodpointe Bar and Grill, Hagerstown.
She was a member of the Dixon-Troxell Post 211 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Funkstown.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Ned Leon Spessard,Sr.; one son, Ned L. Spessard, Jr. and wife Loretta; one daughter, Shirlene S. Spessard, all of Hagerstown; five sisters, Lethia Eichelberger, Nellie Toston, Mildred Rohrer, Joann Weaver and Gloria Snyder; two granddaughters, Dorothea L. Spessard-Myers and husband Paul Spickler of Hagerstown and Misty Shoemaker and husband Dickie of Williamsport; three great granddaughters, Ashley Rutherford and husband Michael of Hagerstown, Jordan and Alyssa Shoemaker, of Williamsport; three great great grandsons, Lucky Brown, Jay and Pax Rutherford and family friend, Cindy Slingluff
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Michael Seger officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 6-8 P.M.
