Dorothy Updike Aleshire, 77, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Village of Robinwood.
Born April 18, 1935, in Front Royal, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ward Shirley and Annie Dale (Moore) Updike.
Mrs. Aleshire was a homemaker and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Chewsville, and Green Acres Homemakers of Washington County.
Her hobbies included flower arranging, gardening, crafts and knitting.
She is survived by one son, Robert Aleshire Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Thurmont; one grandson, Carl Hetzel and wife, Samantha, of Thurmont; one brother, James Updike and wife, Darlene, of Winchester, Va.; one sister, Mary Lee King of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Rosalee Updike of Front Royal and Mary E. Cook of Luray, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert Lee Aleshire Sr.; and a brother, Bernerd Updike.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Blaine Feightner officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
