Edson Bridges "Bud" Moody

Edson Bridges "Bud" Moody, 85, of Hagerstown, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at his home.

Born April 12, 1928 in Omaha, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Willson Bridges Moody, Sr. and Mary Davidson Moody.

He graduated from the Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville, NJ. He then attended Williams College before transferring to the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, graduating with BSM and M.D. degrees. He served a rotation internship and a internal medicine residency at the Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, IL.

He served as Captain in the United States Air Force for two years from 1958-1960.

He practiced Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine in Hagerstown from 1961 until 2001. He was a member of the medical staff of the Washington County Hospital where he served terms as chief of the Dept. of Medicine and the Dept. of Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Moody was certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine and established and participated in the addictions program at the Washington County Hospital.

Dr. Moody became certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine on April 4, 1962 and then by the Society of Nuclear Medicine in 1982.

He was a member of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of MD; the American Medical Association; the American Society of Nuclear Medicine; and the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder and treasurer of the Presbyterian Men. Bud was an enthusiastic fan of jazz music. He enjoyed reading, skiing and sailing in the Chesapeake Bay with friends.

Bud is survived by his wife, Evelyn Lelani (Conrad) Moody, whom he married in 1998; his children, Mindy Kirby and husband Ned of Basking Ridge, NJ, Edson "Ted" Bridges Moody, Jr. M.D. and wife Virginia Moody, M.D. of Normal, Ill., Mary Blinn Kwei and husband Tim of Ellicott City, MD, Willson George Adams Moody and wife Tracey of Shepherstown, WV; stepchildren, Charles Cronauer, Jr. and companion Carol Miller of Phoenix, MD, Susanne Mabini and husband Ron of Alpharetta, GA, Linda Rajahpillay and husband Andrew of Hagerstown; grandchildren, Charles Kirby, Alexander Moody, Willson Moody; step grandchildren, Michael Cronauer, Rachel Cronauer, Andrew Mabini and Chad Mabini.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willson Bridges.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Mark Sandell officiating. Interment will follow.

Friends will be received two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
