Elinor Stevens
1919 - 2017
In her own words, she had a "wonderful life" and was truly "blessed". The quintessential Mother, Elinor Stevens lived a long life to the fullest. She had a loving family which meant the world to her and she devoted her life to family and home.
Born in Highland Park, Michigan on December 8, 1919 to Samuel and Florence Gage, she was a long time resident of Royal Oak, Michigan, until moving to Hagerstown in 2002.
She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Gage and her husband, Harold G. Stevens, who was a real estate and insurance executive.
Elinor was passionate about design and home furnishings and running her interior design business with the late Phyllis McIntyre for many years.
An avid bridge player, she continued to sit at the bridge table up until her death at 97.
Elinor was a lady to the end and those fortunate enough to be loved by her were daughters, Meri Stevens Kulina and husband Tom of Sanibel Island, Florida and Lakeside, Montana and Jane Gocha Wilson and husband Curtis of Hagerstown, MD.; her grandchildren, Meri Gocha Overeem (Mike) of Centerport, NY., Dr. Victoria Marchese (Dr. Michael) of Stevensville, MD., Christopher Kulina (Christene) of Sausalito, CA., Bretta Kulina (Jodi) of Missoula, MT., Brandon Wilson of Hagerstown, MD.; and her great-grandchildren, Alexa and Reagan Overeem, Carmen Marchese, Katherine Kulina and Daisy and Jayne Kulina.
A "Celebration of Life" Tea will be held at Jane and Curtis Wilson's home in Hagerstown at a date to be announced.
The funeral will be private at Elinor's request.
