Elizabeth J. "Betty" Barger

Elizabeth J. "Betty" Barger, 85, of Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Fahrney-Keedy Nursing Home, Boonsboro, Md.

Born August 19, 1939 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of the late, James F. and Catherine (Tribby) Barger.

Betty received a BS Degree from Towson University, a Masters Degree from the University of Hawaii and a Doctorate in Education from George Washington University.

She was an educator at Woodland Way Elementary School, Winter Street Elementary School, Fountain Rock, Board of Education as a Special Ed. consultant and retired in 1992 as an Administrator. She was a teacher in her own tutoring service and Barger Learning Center which relocated to Broadfording Christian Academy-now called HOPE.

Betty attended Valley Grace Church; she was a member of the Quilt Guild; Delta Kappa Gamma Pi Chapter, Hagerstown and President of Alpha Beta State, MD 1989-1991.

She is survived by three siblings, James F. Barger, William E. Barger and R. Kay Barger, and a cousin, Chris Stouffer.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Valley Grace Church,17310 Gay St., Hagerstown with Rev. Dr. Daniel Pritchett officiating.
