Elizabeth Horton Altman, 76, of Hagerstown, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020, at her home.
Born March 25, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Walter Horton and Alice Gardiner Horton. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Martin Altman and sister, Wanda Reeder.
Mrs. Altman was a graduate of Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, N.Y., and the School of Visual Arts, New York City, NY. She retired from Berkley County Schools after 26 years, serving proudly as an Elementary School Art Teacher touching thousands of lives in the process.
Mrs. Altman was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Williamsport. She was passionate about art and art education serving as a member of the Washington County Arts Council and working as the Washington County Museum Education Director. While working as the Education Director, Elizabeth was responsible for implementing numerous art programs for youth in the community.
She is survived by her loving children, Adam Altman (Michelle) of Arlington, Va., Susan Bladen (Tim) of Portland, Ore., and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 10813 Donelson Drive, Williamsport, with Rev. Mark Sandell officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elizabeth’s name to Hospice of Washington County or St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
