Ellen Louise Whittington, known to her family and friends as "Cook", passed from this life on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 18, 1959 in Hagerstown she was the daughter of Ellen Louise (Marshall) Whittington of Hagerstown and the late, Thomas Edward Whittington. In addition to her father she also was preceded in death by three brothers, Gary W. Marshall, Timothy B. Whittington and Thomas E. Whittington; one sister, Kathy J. Whittington and one granddaughter, Madison K. Goetz.
"Cook" retired from Volvo Group Trucks, Hagerstown where she was a lineworker.
She was a devoted and loving, daughter,mother and grandmother.
In addition to her mother she also is survived by four children, Ricky L. Whittington and wife, Jean of Hagerstown, Derrick J. Goetz, Jr. and wife, Megan of Martinsburg, W.Va., Felicia M. Goetz and Tara M. Goetz, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Donna V. Patmon of Hagerstown; ten grandchildren, Aaron Whittington and wife, Jessie, Andrew Whittington, Alexander Whittington, Calissa Connolly, Landen Goetz, Amya Essex, Amir Essex, Tucker Goetz, Makaya Warfield and Sawyer Goetz and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 6-8 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The funeral home will be open at 9 A.M. and throughout the day for anyone who would like to pay their respects. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions 30 people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time , face masks and social distancing are required.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown with Pastor Larry Miller officiating.
