Elmer Earl "Jake" Tosten, 86, of Hagerstown, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at NMS Healthcare.
Born April 1, 1929, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Howard and Florence (Guessford) Tosten.
Elmer retired as a truck driver after having over 30 years of service with Hall's Motor in Hagerstown. He was awarded into the Million Mile Club for his safe driving. Elmer was also a member of the Teamsters Local Union 992.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret L. (Brenner) Tosten; four children, Louise Ann Smith, Howard E. Tosten and partner Elizabeth Baker, Jake J. Tosten, and Richard A. Tosten; a former daughter-in-law, Jennie Avey; six grandchildren, Tommy Hoover, Amanda Younker, Tristen Tosten, Michelle Tosten, Andy Smith, Lesa Lewis; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Paul Tosten; and four sisters, Katherine Eichelberger, Mary Wyand, Dorothy Koontz, and Margaret Stephens.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
