Elsie Ruth (Stoops) Davis, 71, of Mont Alto, died on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Quincy Village.
Born September 26, 1943 in Franklin County, PA, she was the daughter of the late James Shover and Elizabeth Irene (Shindledecker) Stoops.
Elsie had recently worked as a dispatcher and aid for handicapped kids at Baer Buses. She was a bar cook for many establishments in the area including Gus and Ted's in Waynesboro for over 15 years.
She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family and going out to eat. Elsie loved going to Rehoboth Beach as well as the Sunfest in Ocean City.
She is survived by her two daughters, Corrina Settlage and husband David of Mont Alto, Hillary Smith and fiancé Gary Bleau of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Shianne Mendonca and husband Paul of Culpeper, VA, Zachary Settlage and fiancé Samantha Sebald of Ruckerville, VA., Kristopher Settlage and Hannah Settlage both of Mont Alto, Devon and Tanner Smith both of Waynesboro; a great-grandchild, Beckett Mendonca of Culpeper; four siblings, Peggy Swisher of Quincy, Mary Ott of Orrtanna, Robert Stoops of Lancaster, and Richard Stoops of Milford, DE.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by four siblings, Dorothy Stoops, Zoe Haines, Joann Sharar, S. William Stoops; and a half-sister, Opal Sadler.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00pm on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Elsie's name to Rest Haven Funeral Chapel.
