Elva Irene (Mundey) Gordon, 91, of Hagerstown, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Broadmore Senior Living.
Born December 25, 1924, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Clayton and Anna Rebecca (Palmer) Mundey.
She was a former member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.
Elva retired from the Washington County Board of Education, where she worked in the cafeteria for many years. She was also a former girl scout leader. She was a consummate provider and caretaker to all in who she loved.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Larry Gene Gordon, who passed on June 22, 2015; one beloved daughter, a baby angel born into the arms of the Lord; three brothers, Ernest Clayton Mundey, Jr., Richard L. Mundey, and Donald Lee Mundey, Sr.
Elva is survived by her loving daughter, Lois A. Harbaugh and husband Richard, Sr.; two grandsons, Richard K. Harbaugh, II and wife Kim, Jon-Michael Harbaugh, Sr. and wife Tanya, all of Hagerstown; five great-grandchildren, Richard K. Harbaugh, III, Nicholas Walker Harbaugh, Jon-Michael Harbaugh, II, Robert Austin Harbaugh and Brooks Parker Harbaugh; as well as nephews, Donald L. Mundey, Jr. and Melvin Mundey. Elva was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6-8pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
