Elvin James Sturtz, Jr.

Elvin James Sturtz, Jr. "Bill", 95, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the VA Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV.

Born on September 3, 1927, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Elvin and Ethel Sturtz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl C. Mentzer.

He was a veteran of the Fifth Air Force in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

Elvin was a foreman at W.H. Reisner for 50 years. He also helped out at Burgers Texaco whenever he could.

He was a member of the choir at St. John's Episcopal Church.

In his spare time, Elvin loved spending time with his family and watching old Western movies.

Elvin is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Phyllis Sturtz. They were married in January of 1955. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Kim Ridenour and husband Charlie; one son, Steven Terry Sturtz and wife Karen; three grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. Hagerstown, with Father Todd Young officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour prior at the funeral home.
