Emmert P. Stine, 95, of Williamsport, MD passed away on Sunday, April 6th, 2025, at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center. Born August 23, 1929, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Wesley and Lelia (Hoover) Stine.

He was married to his late wife, Betty Stine, for almost 70 years. He served in the National Guard (1945-1946) and went into the US Army 3rd Infantry 212 Military Police (1946-1948) He was a member of the American Legion Post 222, and a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 694.

He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He was the owner/operator of Stine's Radiator for 30 years. Mert was a legend of his time on the dirt track racing circuit. He was an innovator in his sport, racing both local and out of state for many years. He was track champion at Hagerstown Raceway in 1965 and 1967. He was inducted into the Maryland Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame and the Auto Racing Club of Hagerstown Hall of Fame. He was most recently featured as an honoree at the Frank Sagi Memorial Race in 2022.

Emmert is survived by two sons, Terry Stine and wife Karen, Doug Stine and wife Sue, and one daughter, Gladys Turner; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Stine; a son, Jeffrey Stine; a daughter, Krista Funk; four sisters and seven brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 PA Ave, Hagerstown, MD. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be private.
