Eugenia Margaret "Ginny" Bussard, 92, of Hagerstown, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born March 24, 1922 in Kingston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Vernazzaro) Izzo.
Ginny was a 1940 graduate of Plymouth High School, in Plymouth, MA.
She retired from Sears Roebuck after 25 years of service in the parts and service dept.
Ginny was a member at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hagerstown; Catholic Daughter's Court 273; and the Catholic Golden Age. She was a life member of William D. Byron VFW Post No. 1936 and the AmVets Post 10. She enjoyed baking and gardening.
Eugenia is survived by a daughter, Carol Rethemeyer and husband David of Taneytown; two grandsons, Jason Rethemeyer and wife Ashley of Charlottesville, VA, Brandon Rethemeyer and wife Erin of Frederick, MD; a granddaughter, Maegan Perkins and husband Tommy of Birmingham, AL; three great-grandchildren, Noah Wadle, Ryan Rethemeyer, Mia Rethemeyer; two sisters, Mary Swift and Millie Jankowski; a brother, Victor Izzo and wife Pat all of Plymouth, MA; several nieces; nephews and extended
family members.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe C. Bussard, who died in 2009; a son, Dale Griffith; and her first husband, Luther Griffith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, January 19, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, with the Rev. George A. Limmer officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Following the burial, a reception will be held at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4pm at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown.
