Floyd Frederick Shearer, Jr.

Floyd Frederick Shearer, Jr., 75, of Hagerstown, passed away, Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born on March 9, 1946 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Floyd Frederick Shearer, Sr. and Viola (Wolfe) Shearer. He was preceded in death by sisters; Kathleen Stitzel, Eileen Rider, and Josephine Weaver and brother; Ragan HL Shaw, Jr. Floyd is the last remaining survivor of his immediate family.
Floyd graduated from North Hagerstown High School, class of 1964.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1964 to 1968.
Floyd retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2006.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was a member of Funkstown American Legion, Post 211 and B.P.O.Elks #378 for over 40 years. He played on the Senior Citizen Softball League. He was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Redskins and Maryland Terrapins. He loved spending time with family and at the Charles Town casino and Atlantic City.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sonja (Sharer) Shearer, Son; Roger Allen Shearer, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Margaret Clemons officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Family will receive friends two hours prior.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 712 W. Church St. Hagerstown, MD or Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown.
