Frances Louise (Miner) Alton, 89, of Hagerstown, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 30, 2021 surrounded by loving family,at Commonwealth Senior Living, Hagerstown.
Born on July 22, 1932 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Mary Catherine (Williams) and Jack Rodgers Miner.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Donald Lawrence Alton, Brother Charles W. Miner, Nephew Charles D. Miner and great nephew Jeremy W. Miner.
Frances graduated from Hagerstown High School, class of 1950, and Washington County School of Nursing, class of 1953.
Frances retired from Washington County Hospital after 52 years as an Emergency Room Nurse.
Frances was a lifelong member of Church of the Holy Trinity in Hagerstown. She enjoyed gardening, writing and drawing, and was the caretaker and disciplinarian of the family.
She is survived by Sons; Gregory S. Alton and wife Sandy of Williamsport, Michael L. Alton and wife Kate of North Carolina, Grandchildren; Emily Alton and Christopher Alton, Sister Jane (Sis) Miner, Niece Jackie Fouke (Preston), Nephews; Steve Miner (Tammy), Donnie Miner (Debbie), and numerous Great Nieces, Nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11 AM at Church of the Holy Trinity, 17805 Oak Ridge Dr., Hagerstown, MD 21740 with Pastor Ellen Witko officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
Family will receive friends the evening prior from 6-8 PM at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Hagerstown.
