Frederick "Freddie" Hafer, 76, of Hanover, PA, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Hopkins Center Nursing Home, Wyncote, PA.
Born on March 19, 1946 in Green Haven, MD, he was the son of the late Pauline (Chaney) and Frederick Hafer, Sr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters; Phyllis Suffecool (Don), Rosie Winters (Jack) and Angela Seilhamer, one brother; Gerald Hafer,
He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War.
Freddie retired from the Railroad as a supervisor after 30 years of service. His career with the railroad moved his family to Hanover, PA where he then worked in maintenance at Esab.
Freddie was a member of Bethel Assembly of God. He enjoyed golfing and made golf clubs to make up for his own golf expenses. He also enjoyed building various items. He especially enjoyed family cookouts, vacations, spending quality time with his grandchildren, and spending time with his brother, Sonny at his river lot.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Debra "Debbie" Ann (Miller) Hafer; Daughters Tina Hafer and Selena Snively both of Hanover, PA; Sister Bonnie Flannery (Jimmy); Brother, Albert "Sonny" Hafer (Mary); Grandchildren; Aden and Olivia Snively; Son in law, David Snively; Sister in law, Helena Niswander (Eddie); Brother in laws, Willie Seilhamer and Larry Miller (Pam); and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 11 AM at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Pastor Garry Shaffer and Larry Miller of the Salvation Army officiating.
Family will receive friends one hour prior.
