Gary Wayne Fisher

Gary Wayne Fisher, 74, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born on April 5, 1948, he was the son of the late Jack Herbert and Helen Ruth Sherrard Fisher. Gary was a 1966 graduate of North Hagerstown High School. Following graduation, he served with the National Guard obtaining the rank of Sergeant. Gary worked for many years at General Motors Company in the factor paint division and worked as a funeral support associate at Rest Haven Funeral Home.  In his time away from work he had a passion for golf and loved the game, a passion he shared with the Yankees Baseball team. He also enjoyed a trip to the casino and in his younger years was an avid bowler. Gary was a past Commander for the Funkstown American Legion Post #211 and a member of the Alsatia Club.

He is survived by his brother, Gordon Fisher and wife Maria; sister, Karen (Fisher) Kidwell; nieces and nephews, Amie (Brezler) Hersh, Allison Brezler-Zawatski and husband Ed and Nicole (DiBitonto) Matricciani and husband Steve.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Fisher DiBontonto and brother-in-law Cary.

The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown. A funeral service will be held at 11am at Rest Haven Funeral Home Chapel and interment will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
