Gary Wayne Nelson, 40, of Keedysville, passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2010.
Born March 25, 1970, in Hagerstown, he was the son of Mary E. (Springer) Holmes of Keedysville and the late James Nelson.
He previously was employed by Southern Air of Virginia for more than 20 years.
Gary also is survived by his grandmother, Jane Howell, and a stepgrandfather, Autry Howell, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sons, Matthew Shoemaker and Michael Shoemaker, both of Hagerstown; four sisters, Barbara Holmes of Keedysville, Penny Catlett and Teresa Holmes, both of Hagerstown, and Lisa Seabeck of Georgia; two brothers, Bob Holmes Jr. of Clear Spring and James "Izzy" Nelson Jr. of Smithsburg; and one granddaughter.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by stepfather, Bob Holmes Sr.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
