Gary Wayne Spickler, 78, of Hagerstown, passed away, Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the University of Maryland Hospital Center, Baltimore.
Born October 13, 1938 in Hagerstown he was the son of the late, Clinton Victor and Louise Jane (Hoffman) Spickler.
Mr. Spickler was a Sergeant in the U S Army Reserves.
He retired with 32 years of service as senior vice president of manufacturing operations at Grove Crane, Shady Grove, Pa.
He was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church, Hagerstown; Clear Spring American Legion Post 0222, and the NRA. He was an avid antique and harness bell collector, a member of the American Bell Association and operated a business at Antique Cross Roads, Hagerstown. He closely followed NASCAR and was formerly a SCCA race car owner and driver.
He is survived by one son, Michael B. Spickler and wife, Carol; one grandson, Zachary M. Spickler and one granddaughter, Riley A. Spickler all of West Friendship, Md.; his significant other, Barbara Resh; one brother, Leon Spickler and wife Sandy; one niece, Robin Gilbert and husband Wayne and one nephew, Jeffrey Spickler and wife Denise, all of Hagerstown.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown with Rev. Mark C. Mooney officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday February 12, 2017 from 2-5 P.M.
