George Brody, 92, of Hagerstown, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village,in Boonsboro.
Born August 30, 1922, in Webster, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Alexander and Mary (Kundla) Brody.
George was a 1941 graduate of Monogahela Pennsylvania High School. He also graduated from Douglas Business College.
George was a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII, where he served in the Pacific Theater aboard Patrol Craft (PC) 1143.
He was a 23 year plus employee of Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, where he was a member of Mack Golden Bulldogs and Local 171 UAW retirees. George was also a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Hagerstown.
George enjoyed such hobbies as bowling, ballroom and square dancing, horseshoes and golf.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 35 years, Ann Brody, who died in 1985.
He is survived by his son, George Steven Brody of Hagerstown; a brother, Frank Brody of Monongahela, PA; two sisters, Margaret (Sandy) Brody and Ann Brody Crooks, both of Pittsburgh, PA.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Ann Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, with military honors being accorded by the Navy Honor Guard.
Friends will be received on Thursday, from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
