George Jacob Schieferstein

Dr. George Jacob Schieferstein, 79, of Hagerstown, passed away Thursday, October 28th, at Meritus Medical Center.
Born, July 22, 1942 in Buffalo, New York he was the son of the late Jacob and Grace (Gates) Schieferstein.
In 1964, Dr. Schieferstein earned his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Pure Science at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York in 1964. In 1970, he earned his PHD at State University of New York.
He was a member of the Society of Toxicology for 40 years.
Dr. Schieferstein worked at the FDA, USDA, and DOD and retired after many years of service.
George is survived by his loving wife Donna H Schieferstein, daughters Susan D. Fields and husband Leroy of Kearneysville, WV, Lori A. Duvall and husband Darren of Hagerstown, grandchildren Stephanie Dampha and husband Yusupha, Brett Duvall, Ashlynn Paul and husband Austin, great grandchildren Eva, Avery, Kayliana, Raiden, Stevan, and David.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt Mary Ruddick of Buffalo, New York.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Rest Haven Funeral Home 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21742. Elder Greg Bowen will officiate, Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
