Gerald "Jerry" Leon Hutzell

Gerald L. Hutzell, age 94, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at The Leland of Laurel Run in Waynesboro, PA. He was born on August 2, 1930 in Gapland, MD, the son of Floyd Theodore and Hazel Mae (Jones) Hutzell.

In addition to his wife, Norma Hutzell, he is survived by his daughter, Cynthia (Hutzell) Dawson of Greencastle, PA, his son, Curtis Hutzell (and Becky) of Greencastle, PA, his son, Steven Hutzell (and Mary) of Williamsport, MD, and his son, Keith Hutzell of Hagerstown, MD.

Jerry was also step father to Debra Kortright (and Thomas) of Hagerstown, MD, Cheryl Wyler (and Gary) of Boonsboro, MD, Cynthia Burkett (and Craig) of Hagerstown, MD, Christopher Graff (and Michelle) of Fayetteville, PA, and Aaron Graff (and Alison) of Trinity, NC.

In addition, Jerry had many grandchildren including Fawn McManus, Derrick Hutzell, Brian Reese and Keith (KC) Hutzell, and numerous other nieces and nephews, and step grandchildren.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Janet Hovermale and Theresa Phillips and also his brothers, Floyd Hutzell, Jr. and Montigue Hutzell.

Well known to all as Jerry, he worked at Mack Trucks in Hagerstown, MD for 29 years before retiring in 1991. Jerry enjoyed painting and making crafts and attending craft shows, bird watching, yard work, and star gazing. Jerry also enjoyed having his own lawn mower repair business for many years in Chewsville, MD.
