Geraldine Bartles

Geraldine Elizabeth Bartles, 89 of Falling Waters, WV., and formerly of Halfway, MD., passed away December 31, 2016 at the Williamsport Nursing Home.

Born in Hagerstown on Feb. 12, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Samuel M. and Mary J. (Eyler) Shackelford.

She was previously employed upon her retirement from the Board of Education. She was a member for most of her life with the Grace United Methodist Church, Hagerstown and later became a member of the Broadfording Fellowship Church, in Cearfoss, MD.

Most importantly she was a loving and dedicated wife and mother to her family. She was very loved by her friends and family.

Thank you very much for all your love and the wonderful childhood memories.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Herman Marshall Bartles; a brother, Melvin Shackelford and his wife Leona; two sisters, Reva Parkinson and husband Earl, Evelyn Richards and husband Arthur, all of Hagerstown.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn J. Roof of Falling Waters; and one son, Ronald L. Bartles of Hagerstown; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private.

A special thank you to the nurses and nurses aides of Williamsport Nursing Home for the loving and wonderful care during her stay. Also, a special thanks to Hospice of Washington County, for their devotion, love, and caring over the last several months.

She was very special, kind, loving, and a wonderful wife, and mother whom always had a wonderful smile. She loved the Lord and now may she rest in peace with her family in Heaven.
