Gertrude Catherine Everly

It is with an abundance of sadness that the family of Gertrude C. Everly announce her passing. On February 2, 2025, at the age of 81, Gertrude left her life on earth after a brief and sudden illness. Born May 28, 1943, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late James and Anna Amelia Hawthorne.

 She graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1960 and went on to work for C & P Telephone, retiring after 35 years of service.

Gertrude genuinely enjoyed life. She never passed on a trip to the beach or an all-day shopping trip with her daughter and granddaughter. She enjoyed any opportunity to play the slots and relished trying her luck on a scratch off. But nothing, absolutely nothing, brought her joy like her family.

Gertrude is survived by her daughter Michele, grandchildren; Jason (fiancée Mandi), & Julieanne (wife Kelly), great grandchildren; Abby, Camden, & Lucy, devoted niece; Chris (husband Ronnie), special great nephew Oliver, and numerous other loved nieces and nephews.

Gertrude is predeceased in death by her husband Jay, her beloved mother Anna sisters; Beatrice, Gloria & Cheryl, brothers; Harry, William & James.

Gertrude’s family will hold a memorial Gathering in celebration of her life, Monday February 17, 2025, from 5-7 P.M. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD
