Gloria Virginia (Collett) Hawkins, 90, of Hagerstown, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born April 25, 1926, in California, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Oda (Catinette) Collett.
She was a 1943 graduate of East Pike High School in California, PA.
Gloria worked in telephone sales for Montgomery Wards, was a cashier for A&P, and also worked as a homemaker.
She was an avid bowler in the Hits and Misses Bowling League. She enjoyed playing cards, reading Nora Roberts novels, bird watching, crochet, tending to her vegetable and flower garden, an avid Redskins fan as well as traveling to Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Alexander L. "Al" Hawkins; and a sister, Jerry Messina.
Gloria is survived by a son, James L. Hawkins of Hagerstown; two daughters, Darla Sue Hawkins of Reisterstown, Gerry Lynn Stimmel and husband Rick of Westminster; a brother, Kenny Collett and wife Sandy of Meriden, CT; a niece, Eileen Linn of Hagerstown; and two grandchildren, Tess Morrison and husband Brian of Pittsburgh, PA, and Joshua Stimmel of Westminster.
The family will received friends on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 4-6pm at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The funeral home will be open from 8:30am for those who wish to come early.
Interment will be private.
